Financial decisions turn on circumstances this site knows nothing about — income, debts, taxes, dependents, obligations, timeline, and how much risk a household can actually absorb. General education cannot account for any of that, and it should not try.

Before making a financial decision, speak with a qualified professional suited to the question at hand: a certified public accountant (CPA) for tax, a licensed financial advisor for investing and planning, and an attorney for legal questions. That advice is worth paying for, and nothing here is a substitute for it.

Stated plainly, because education that leaves this out is not education. The price of Bitcoin moves sharply and can fall as easily as it rises. Transactions are irreversible, so an amount sent to the wrong address is usually gone. And holding Bitcoin yourself means holding the keys to it, which means losing those keys can mean losing the money permanently, with no institution able to restore it.

None of that is an argument against learning how it works. It is the reason this site exists: those are among the very things people said they wanted explained clearly, and in plain language.

Considerable care goes into the research and the writing published here, and the methods behind the national research are described openly rather than summarized away.
